Which self tanner is easiest for beginners?
Tan Water. It's a clear mist with no bronzer, so there are no streaks or stains to manage, and the 5% DHA builds slowly: mist two or three times a week to maintain, or daily to deepen. When you're ready for full-body color, move up to Bronzing Mousse and the Applicator Mitt.
How long does self tanner take to develop?
Bronzing Mousse and Instant Airbrush show a guide color right away and develop over 8 hours. Wait 5 minutes before dressing and 8 hours before showering, and the bronzer rinses off to show the tan underneath. Tan Water and Tan Extend Lotion go on clear and build gradually with each use.
Will self tanner stain my sheets or clothes?
The bronzer-free formulas won't. Tan Water and Tan Extend Lotion contain no cosmetic bronzer, so they apply clear and are easy to use before bed. Bronzing Mousse and Instant Airbrush carry a guide color that shows where you've applied, so give them 5 minutes to dry before you get dressed.
Do I need a mitt to apply self tanner?
It makes an even result much easier. The Applicator Mitt is double-sided, keeps palms from staining and works with any foam, cream or gel. Pump the mousse onto the mitt, start with the thighs, work up through the body and arms, then finish hands and feet with what's left on the mitt.
Can I use self tanner on my face?
Yes. Tan Water is made for the face: mist the face, neck and décolletage from 6 to 8 inches away until saturated, then let it absorb. Bronzing Mousse, Instant Airbrush and Tan Extend Lotion are also safe for face and body. Keep Tan Extend away from the eye area.
How should I prep my skin for self tanner?
Start with clean, dry, exfoliated skin. Use Sugar Scrub 24 hours before, and keep lotions and oils off your skin on the day you tan. Right before you use the mitt, smooth a little lotion on your hands and feet so those drier spots don't pick up extra color.
