These “standard” solutions require a minimum of 8 hours before rinsing to allow the DHA to fully develop. The DHA level in the formula will not continue to darken beyond its designated percentage if left on longer than 8 hours.

For example, Sjolie’s Luxe No.9 solution contains 9% DHA. If a client is sprayed at 6 PM and chooses to sleep in the tan, the color will not exceed the 9% DHA level, even if left on longer. However, if the client rinses before the 8-hour mark, the tan may not have had enough time to develop fully to the intended 9% level.

8-Hour Solutions are Ideal For:

    • Clients who don’t need to rinse immediately and are comfortable leaving the solution on for an extended period.
    • New clients or those prepping for special events who need a reliable, foolproof tan without the timing sensitivities of rapid solutions.

Rapid solutions offer a faster, more flexible tanning option, perfect for clients with busy lifestyles. These formulas contain a high concentration of DHA (18% to be specific), allowing the tan to develop more quickly and enabling rinsing in as little as one hour. However, because of their high DHA content, rapid tans can be temperamental and require strict adherence to rinse times to avoid underdevelopment or overdevelopment so we do not recommend spraying brides, new tanners, or anyone for important events with rapids.

Important Guidelines:

  • 2 hours for a light tan (comparable to a 6% DHA)
  • 3 hours for a medium tan (comparable to a 9% DHA)
  • 4 hours for a dark tan (comparable to a 12% DHA)
  • 5 hours for a dark-depth tan (comparable to a 14% DHA)

Rapid Solutions are Ideal For:

    • Clients needing a last-minute tan or who prefer not to leave the solution on overnight.
    • Experienced clients who can be trusted to rinse at the appropriate time for their desired result.
